4th and Broadway

(Northwest Corner) The first business building in Elsberry as Cannon. Goodman & Company which sold general merchandise and furniture.

(Southeast corner) Across the street was the two store Foley building. It had a millinery shop on the bottom and a community center above. Broadway does not look today as it did when originally built! There have been five major fires along Broadway since Elsberry was established: 1887 (S. Broad & S. Main), 1891 (S. Broad), 1894 (2 blocks on N. Broad), 1930 (S. Broad to 3rd) and 1937 (West of 3rd on Broadway).
